About Us

Paddock 186 is a unique venue in picturesque rural southland, that offers many function, dining and accommodation options that you can tailor to your requirements.

A large modern contemporary home that can host up to 12 diners, whether you choose from the many menu options or supply your own wild game to be cooked for your guests the choice is endless. There are 2 double bedrooms with your own ensuites available for you to stay and make a weekend of it.

Set in established grounds you could dine outdoors with food cooked in the pizza oven, spit roasted or barbecued in the purpose built rustic barn. A trained chef will cook with locally and sustainably sourced fare to your requirements, with the addition of expertly produced, award winning products.

The idea for Paddock 186 was born several years ago after graduating with a certificate of hospitably at SIT in 2012. I then started doing some market research around homestay/BnB/ Function venues etc and discovered a demand for groups to be able to dine in a private rural setting. I was about to get some marketing together around this when I lost my home and most belongings in a house fire, June 2013.

Left devastated… after time I decided to purpose build a house around my newly found aspirations of providing a bespoke dining/ function venue for family occasions, friends, social groups, work colleagues or tourists. I am looking forward to sharing this with you.
‘to provide a unique tailored event to exceed the visitors expectations’

To achieve this there is no fixed menu or price list as such. I wish to discuss with the customer their preferences around food prior to booking, then design dishes around this. I like to cook with produce that is locally produced / as seasonal as possible, cooking everything from scratch – although leaving some products to the local artisan experts likes cheeses, breads etc. You may wish to provide your own game for me to prepare.
I also offer themed nights like ‘wild’ food dinner, retreat weekend packages and pre-wedding ‘fit out’ packages.
